The Run

The Run is our latest fostering recruitment film, created in collaboration with over 90 local authority fostering services across the UK - this powerful short film highlights how fostering can help children like Tom win more than just a race.

The story follows 11-year-old Tom, whose instinct to run reflects both his need to escape a difficult home life and his natural talent for athletics. Facing challenges like hunger and not having a PE kit, Tom’s life begins to change when he joins a new foster family who support him to pursue his passion. The film culminates in an emotional stadium race, cheered on by his foster parents – a moment that symbolises the stability, encouragement, and opportunity that fostering can provide.

Why foster?

Children and young people come into care for a variety of different reasons but many do so as a result of a lack of appropriate parenting. We need foster parents who can provide a nurturing and caring environment for these children, to help give them the best opportunities for a happy and successful life in spite of these experiences.

Why foster?
Meet the foster parents

Our existing foster parents tell us fostering has been the 'experience of a lifetime' for them. Knowing that you are helping a young person build a better life for themselves by providing support at a time when they need it most, rightly gives you a great sense of achievement. But don’t take our word for it see what they say.
